New Moon Review

New Moon by Stephanie Meyer

Rating: ***** Suggested Age: 13

Summary: “I knew we were both in mortal danger. Still, in that instant, I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin. It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect – not healed, but as if there had never been a wound in the first place.” (Summary, though more like a passage, was found on Goodreads).

This sequel in Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series was great. I am still annoyed about her lack of proper grammar, but other than that it was great. It is a romance book meaning there will be romantic content in it that kids under the age of 13 should wait to read. I read this book in two days and could not put it down. The violence was higher than the first book and the suspense was also higher. The main character makes poor decisions that younger readers should not be exposed to (like being in a very unhealthy relationship). I still haven’t been able to pinpoint why I love this series so much, but I hope to figure it out soon. I just hope that kids who read this book don’t do anything dumb like the main characters. I also hope that kids don’t take her grammar as being “okay” and start failing their English tests. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books. I apologize for not posting in a while, I have so much homework!
